We have enough soap. What I'm referring to with that title is handcrafted soaps as in these soap making videos! Being sequestered in a 2-bedroom apartment with the hubs and BB can get challenging. Not just because of the space and monstrous boredom, but the judgments.
Without gym to get to, errands to run, or classes to sub I'm having difficulties feeling okay about myself. I'm worried about putting 10 lbs back on or losing my strength again. Being bored and sitting around on yer ass for hours each day can be hard work mentally! I've been catching those judgments and trying to be open minded and caring toward myself as best as possible.
Part of me effectively coping is finding things to do "on the inside" and I just found a new tool for distracting (one of my DBT skills) that has allowed me to focus entirely on the moment. These soap making videos are from a gal down in Texas with her own small business are gems. The soap making is entrancing AND the gal is so charming, genuine, and funny.
Anyways, it's helped me get through some days and I'm very grateful for the Buff City Soaps ad that made me think to search for soap making videos.
Maybe give a video a watch and see if ya like it? There are so many different designs!
Those soaps are beautiful. I have a friend who makes soaps from goat milk. (She raises goats.) They are always a treat when I get a bar. You are a creative and crafty person. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of things you create over the next few weeks whether it is soap or something else.
ReplyDeleteI think many people are finding they are eating more now--especially comfort foods. And exercise is harder, too. My husband depends on workouts at the gym to help with the stresses at work. Since it closed, he's having a hard time finding a substitute. All of these adjustments are doable. It's just that it's hard to form new routines when you are stressed.
Very well said about making adjustments. I too rely on the gym for my wellbeing and it's very hard finding a substitute! Glad you enjoyed the soaps-they are so soothing to watch being made and so beautiful!
DeleteSome of those soaps are gorgeous - almost too gorgeous to use.
ReplyDeleteI think many people are having huge difficulties adapting to the current normal. And as an aside why is the 'new normal' never, ever anything we want.
Stay well, stay safe.
Seriously, "new normal" is almost always "well, this is what we have to deal with" and not "congratulations!" I agree with being too pretty to use, I would have a hard time digging into some of these soaps!
DeleteVery, very pretty soaps. What fun, too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed! The videos are bringing me joy as well as motivation of some form!
DeleteI am sure you will come up with something creative, you always do and your soaps will be gorgeous and smell wonderful. If you want some home exercise, check for videos on You Tube. Some of those have worked for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I did try a HIIT workout the other day that was okay. I definitely need to push myself more to get in front of the TV for that purpose! I hope we have some fun too creating whatever we do!
